The First Game

Finally, videos from the first soccer game of the season. I apologize to my "regulars" for being slow to get these posted.

Soccer played by 3 and 4 year-olds is a comedy, not a game. When we arrived on the field three boys from the other team were in tears and we hadn't even started playing. When we did play there was a constant flux of players on the field. (You'll see what I mean in one of the videos.) And then there's the whole concept of "taking turns". The little ones are just beginning to understand the concept and then they are placed on a soccer field where it no longer applies.

Oh! The confusion and the tears.

Fortunately, a rolling ball is a great distraction so the distress didn't last long because another opportunity to "take a turn" was literally rolling by.

In this first video, the coach had lined all of the players up so the other team could kick off. She told them to "stay there". O was VERY good at listening to the coach. It took me a second to understand why she was doing what she was doing, or wasn't doing. I even felt a pang of sadness when I saw her confusion, but her excitement made up for it.

She's a little oblivious about the object of the game. What do you think?

Os understanding of soccer is "running."

O is done with the game. I had been sitting on my chair up until this point and when O noticed I wasn't sitting, well, you'll see.

Also this is the only time O kicked the ball during the entire game. Now, which team is she playing for?
